Well kids, here we are, another Friday, and another week we’re a day late in getting the Antics out. It could be worse, I could’ve gotten them out on Saturday again like I did a few weeks back, but I know you’ve all got better things to do than read this nonsense on a weekend, so here’s what I’ve got…

It's been a long, short week here people. The week's we have that start out with a Monday holiday are great, but let's face it, we're all screwed up for the remainder of the week. We start our week on Tuesday thinking it's really Monday. Couple that with still adjusting to and trying to remember that we are now in a new year and continue to spend our time dating everything as 2024 when get it together kids, it's actually 2025. Soon it's Wednesday and someone says hey, it's hump day and you look at them like this poor bastard has no idea what day it is, when in fact it's you - you're the poor bastard who has no idea what day it is, where you are, or how you got there and you've been going about your day thinking it was Thursday which would mean only one more day of this foolishness before the weekend, but this jackass just reminded you that no, you are actually two days away from the weekend because it's only Wednesday. That then gets you to thinking about trash day, which is also all screwed up and trash pick -up has been delayed by a day because of the holiday, or the huge winter snowstorm we were supposed to get but we didn't - who knows why exactly, all you are sure about is trash pick-up has been delayed by a day, but by the time you've figured that out you've decided, screw it, play it safe and just wait until next week to put it out. Then if you have school aged kids there was a delay due to the cold temps, so now you definitely have no idea what day it is. Now you find yourself reading The Antics where you find all of your true, proven and reliable information today, but today is Friday, not Thursday when they're supposed to be published because I admit it, I suck and can't get my act together to get them out on time. What I'm trying to say, is it's all going to be fine. It's Friday people, we can try this all again next week.
2. It’s been cold. Damn cold, like iceberg cold. However, my temperature and weather challenged pyrenes mix could care less what the temps have been and could care even less than that that he was not helping me heed all the warnings about proper pet care to avoid frost bite. After my third or fourth time I had to bundle myself up to go outside to drag his sorry unappreciative ass in, I was about to give up only to be told by some lunatic out for a walk in this weather that I shouldn’t leave my dog outside in these temperatures. Yes sir, I’m aware of the frigid temps and no I am not neglecting the four-legged beast, in fact, he is neglecting me with the reindeer games he plays while I try to coax him back inside. Per usual, Gibson is making it his life’s work to make me look bad.

3. When Gibson does decide to get out of the cold and come inside it's only to take his facetime calls from his buddy George. Exhibit 1, Gibson and George.

4. When the ABS light comes on in your car, this does not mean that your car thinks you have kicking abs. For starters, I know you think your car is a Transformer, but it is in fact a 25-year-old Toyota Camry. I know you think it has magic powers, but it does not, which you will soon find out if you do not address the real meaning behind the lit-up light on your dashboard that is, in fact, informing you there may be an issue with your anti-lock brakes. Get it together.
5. Gibson learned the hard way this week that just because he’s now tall enough to graze and steal things off the hot stove, he should probably not lick the top of it just because he can reach it. It's hot ya dope.

6. We haven’t popped popcorn in a while, and I treated us to a new and improved hot air popcorn popper. Not so much because the people who live here enjoy a bowl of popcorn now and then, but because it’s fun to pop some corn and watch Gibson stare in amazement of how this whole process goes down. Exhibit 2, Gibson waiting on his popcorn.

7. Looking for something fun and unusual to do here in Worcester this weekend? How about a Scavenger Hunt? No, I'm not messing with you and I'm not going to invite you to meet me somewhere and then not show up, this is a real thing. Anywhere from self-guided hunts and tours, to one being held this weekend called "Wiggle 'round Worcester". Reasons why you won't see me at one of these things...a.) they start at 8 am and b.) you have to purchase tickets at the cost of $12.99 per person. The ticket prices are cheap, but those of us who live and work in the Woo can show you the real ins and outs of the city free of charge. Hit us up. You can come out with me on home visits any day of the week - for free. However, if you are so inclined to have a professional show you around what those in charge would like you to see, here's the link...

8. If you're feeling particularly adventurous one day mid work week and decide to bang in and take the day off, venture on out of the Woo and you'll find all kinds of little unknown gems. For instance, if you find yourself heading in the direction of Boston, stop by The Bodega on Clearway Street. The Bodega is described as being hidden in clear site, situated in the back end of a convenience store behind a door that appears to be a Snapple machine. It is said that located behind that door you will find high-end street wear, clothing and shoes - the shop is only known to the freshest kids in the city - and now to all of you, because I just told you. Here's the link...Bodega

Another option for a genuine adventure without being flim flammed out of $12.99 for a ticket to participate in what would probably be an unauthentic scavenger hunt/tour of our fine city, go visit Beet next time she's volunteering at the Hanover Theater. No, Beet has not relocated to Worcester from Boston, she's just a nut who strongly believes in giving back and doing the work of the people for free. She drives in from Boston to the Woo to usher a variety of shows that are playing there. Check out their schedule. If you are so inclined to go when Beet will be ushering, let us at The Antics know and we'll see what we can do about getting you there when Beet is...sometimes she's hard to track down...Shows & Tickets - Upcoming Events - Hanover Theatre and Conservatory

As you regular readers will know, Beet continues to investigate and find all kinds of what would otherwise be overlooked gems when she's out and about on her daily walks at all hours of the day and night. I bet we could get her to walk by and check out The Bodega we talked about in #7. Maybe take some pictures of the unusual things she finds...we'll keep you posted.
And last but not least, stay warm and have a great weekend!
